Every new account automatically starts with a 14-day Premium trial — no credit card required. At the end of the trial you can choose to subscribe or continue on the free tier.
Free accounts get unlimited barcode scanning, 25 nutrition label scans per month, basic health ratings, and manual food logging. Premium unlocks unlimited label scans, personalized health ratings based on your goals and conditions, AI Nutritionist chat, 7-day meal plan generation, nutrition reviews with A–F grading, Apple Health sync, and supplement recommendations.
Point your camera at any product barcode and MyNutritionist looks it up instantly across multiple databases including OpenFoodFacts and USDA FoodData Central. Barcode scanning is always free and unlimited — it never counts against your monthly scan quota.
A label scan is when you photograph a nutrition facts panel and the app reads it using OCR (optical character recognition). This is different from barcode scanning, which is always free. Free accounts get 25 label scans per month. Barcode scanning never counts toward this limit.
Go to the Profile tab and tap "Connect Apple Health." You'll be prompted to grant permissions for the nutrients you want to sync — calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber, and sodium. Once connected, every meal you log automatically writes to Apple Health and appears on your Apple Watch. If permissions are revoked, a banner on the Home screen lets you reconnect quickly.
Yes. You can cancel anytime through your iPhone's App Store subscription settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). Your Premium access continues until the end of your current billing period. Your data and food history are preserved if you ever decide to resubscribe.
If a barcode or label scan doesn't return a result, you can use the "Add Manually" option to enter the nutrition info yourself — it saves to your personal food library for quick reuse. You can also try cleaning the camera lens, improving lighting, or holding the camera steady a few inches from the label. If a specific product consistently fails, let us know via the support form below and we'll look into it.
Your health data is never sold to third parties or used for advertising. We do not share your personal health profile, conditions, or eating history with anyone. Apple Health data stays on your device and is governed by Apple's privacy framework. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
